How Asia saved the series

Some people only pick up the game once it reaches a heavy discounted price, or right before the release of the next Entry. It always possible X could garner more sales. Though probably nowhere near V's 500K mark.

Some games even take years. I remember last gen no one cared about Valkyria Chronicles. But once it hit the $20 bargain bin, it suddenly became a huge successes over night.

Oh yeah. I imagine X will crawl up to around 350k worldwide by the end, which is not insubstantial by this franchise’s reckoning, but it is notedly lower than V.

The good news is that getting around half their sales from the Chinese and SEA markets means they’re going to be more likely to use series that weren’t as popular in Japan like Bebop, which means we might get some real screwball series in the near future.

I think they even said that in a recent interview where many series featured in T were largely as if not more popular in the West. It makes sense now why we have such a diverse roster in T.

If T manages to sell at least 3-400K we might get more irregulars like Outlaw Star next game. I'm surprised Big O wasnt in T since it was far more polular in the West.

......Last Exile next game, calling it now.

Big O was popular in America, sure, but I imagine they didn’t want to put all their eggs in one basket, and there are a fair few things standing in the way of it getting a full adaptation.

Yeah, Big O's setting is somthing that needs to be considered. Other wise it'll be like Z where Pradigm was in like maybe, 5 maps? Hell, I still don't get WTF the ending was about. It was all just a tV show?

I think part of the reason for SRW V's success was Yamato 2199. 2199 was a massive success and revitalized the franchise after being mostly dormant for a long time outside of the decent live action movie. And it helped that 2199 was mostly played straight and was the main plot point in the game more so the very bland original story. Only problem with 2199 in V was lack of fully playable Akira Yamamoto...

It also shows that digital sales (which were not included in the media create sales) played a big factor too along with the Asian and Eng Asian releases.

I hope this shows that regular SRW games are not dying anytime and preventing Bandai Namco just sticking to the mobage system...

I believe the Asian region sales were not only Asian people. Remember, Asian got English version, so there are chunks of importers from all over the world wanting to see the first mainline English SRW.

Well, the mobile games are a big reality today. This sales change nothing. Every company us Now making beautiful games even on mobiles because they make tons of money. Some games are really good, like brave exvius and Another Eden. Honestly, they are more fun than many other console games

@Mattman324 253k is a pretty exact number, where did you get that one? Last I checked I it was around 150k+ for purely physical sales but as it's all third party sources I don't know how accurate that is still (I kinda assumed it might be up to 50k more). Might be nice to have a better set of sources than my usual.

Pretty much. The times have changed. While there are still many mobages that are utter trash, there are now more and more that are are better and have more work put into them then the average console game now a days. And most importantly, mobages are accessible to pretty much the entire world, far more then any console or handheld ever could and generate far more amounts of money then other gaming format available. It's the reason why they had to make the Switch Portable and a Console at the same time, because at this point, smart phones have pretty much killed any future for hand held gaming systems.
