Well they call it 5 ... which gives me hope that this is a proper title.
Okay I admit I don't consider that remake a bad game per se ... but it didn't feel like DmC.

Not much to say except "please be good".

Aside from Kamiya and Clover/Platinum expats, I remember hearing staff from DMC were working on Dragon's Dogma, which makes sense if you've played that before - the big one being Itsuno, who directed DMC 2/3/4. I'm not really sure what the deal with the Dogma franchise is right now, since there's Dragon's Dogma Online in Japan and the recent re-releases of the Dark Arisen upgrade, but it seems like it exists in this "sort of successful" hole where they may or may not do anything else with it. So I would not be surprised if Itsuno is directing 5 again, assuming he's still even at Capcom (nothing indicating he left, but often we only ever find out after the fact). That seems like the obvious answer, but we'll see.

Game play wise DmC was overall pretty decent. The issues with it was the terrible bastardization that Ninja Theory did to the characters, story and concept in another case of a shitty western developer wanting to put their stamp on a successful Japanese franchise.

Not to mention they were just outright douche bags, especially Taini. . They had an entire conference at GDC a few years back that was nothing but  "Their reasoning" why their Dante is the real Dante and that DMC,3,4 Dante was some "gay cowboy" purely out of spite because no one liked his terrible self Inser Donte that was flat out based on his appearance.

Yu can't make this shit up.

It was all Keiji Inafune''s fault. It was a mistake making him head of global markets or whatever he was. He ruined Lost Planet as well when he gave it to a western developer as well. There's a reason Japan outright hates him, largely because he said that Japanese developed games were all stale trash compared to "lol westers games"

Hope this game is good, Capcom's reputation hasn't been that good in the past couple of years outside of Monster Hunter and Resident Evil 7 they seemed to have gotten lucky with because they brought in a western writer with the game who also wrote the 1st 2 FEAR games and Spec Ops the Line.

Either way, I would like to see Nero come back again, I liked his character and his combat was fun too, a nice change of pace compared to just playing with Dante all the time as the protagonist. (I don't include Devil May Cry 2 in that list because it wasn't good and Lucia was extremely dull).

@Top Nep "checks the link" ... wat.
Man the stuff you miss when you get old and aren't glued to gaming news 24/7 like in my youth :/
Also what DmC2? Pretty sure that number was skipped :p

It's not skipped but it might as well be. it's just officially been pushed so back in the time line that it might as well not exist. The current order is

3, 1, anime, 4, anything else they ever come up with, 2.

And yes the bad anime is canon.

That's okay too.
And I didn't find the anime .... that ... bad. It helps when you expect the absolute worst from any "Movie/Anime of the Game/Mange/Novel", that way you can only proven right or be pleasantly surprised :p

I thought it was bad, but I still liked it. Especially since it was an original story, and also because in the game we've never actually seen Dante in an actual world setting with other humans. The closest was 3 and that was just the start of the game in the city where no one existed/all died.

also strawberry ice cream.

It's better then most that try to do a forced cut adaptation like Blazblue, disgaea, etc.
