It's a good game, and definitely fun, but it definitely isn't the shining tower of perfection people are raving it as all over the place.

I think it's a bit unfair to say how other people are saying it biased and one's friends are saying it right by criticizing it, but honestly there is nothing wrong with dubs or scripts translated from the game. Not even the game story itself. Like if people are going to criticize one or two cliche lines or one character based on that, that's literally worst way to judge a game. Persona 5 isn't a perfect game, but it really has that immersion of content to enjoy.

If people really don't like it, I understand that it's not their taste, but for those who never played the game and are going by what others say and agree the negativity, that's just disrespectful imo.

No game is perfect, and I never use absolutes on describing them as the best. But Persona 5 is pretty good game though. It takes a few refreshing steps compared to Persona 3 and 4. Some of the character archtypes is the same compared to previous games, but that's to be expected in pretty much any J-RPG. Some of the social links are a bit meh, but its also been in the case in the previous 2 games. I don't have a problem with any of the party members though. I'll have to complete the game before I can fully compare to 3 and 4/G. 4G (Golden) has been my favorite of the series so far.

I also read absolutely nothing about the reviews, I bought the game because I enjoy the series. And it went further than what I expected and I'm happy for it.

Some of that is "Shiny new toy" syndrome, especially one of the other major shiny new toys (Mass Effect Andromeda) has a serious defect that is pulling a lot of the joy of the game for some people. While I still say this is probably my favorite game so far this year. I have some gripes, but most of those gripes existed in P3 and P4 (the story happens in spurts with long droughts life simulator and dungeon crawling, for instance), so regurgitating them for P5 when they clearly aren't going to change anything. Moreover most of my posts are "Early in the game" posts where most of the shiny newness is very blinding. It also helps that it was an improvement over my attempts to play ME Andromeda, which just didn't feel as good playing.

So you have to expect some people to be praising it heavily while ignoring the faults is because: A. They haven't had enough time to start really noticing the faults. B. They more or less expected the faults long before the game came out and were accepting those faults. C. Coming off a disappointing experience where even beating the expectation by any margin generates way more hype than it deserves. D. Some combination of the above.

At the end of the day, I'm still enjoying P5, but it's not my favorite Persona game, and it's merely my favorite so far this year, with SRW V being a close second.

The translation issues going on for P5 is a legit complaint, although I'm wondering that because of the JP voice option, its easier to tell if the localization is off or not. I also wonder if this was also the case with Persona 3 and 4/G... because there was no JP voice option in the localization for those games.

Persona 5 did pretty well in Japan for its sales: about 500K, it did quite better compared to Persona 4 which sold about 300K in Japan. In the US, Persona 4 sold about 120K, Golden about 340K in JP and US each. Persona 5's US and Western sales will be pretty strong though, likely better than Persona 4's US sales.

.andromeda was just a mess. A lazy, terrible mess. Is not an awful game, but it was a huge disappointment. The writing get was terrible, the plot was stuoid, the gameplay felt watered down a lot, and of course, the game was littered with bugs and still is.

As of course, the large amount of social justice feminist pandering with the female MC.
