So I played God of War for the PS4
#1
Long story short. Decided to start the game in Hard Mode, as that's how I always play in every God of War game I get my hands on. I was not ready for how brutal that mode is when I realized it took me a full 30 minutes just to clear my first battle. By the time I finished the Tutorial and got to the game's open-world segment, 12 hours have literally passed.

Basically if you want to have a lot of fun with the game, do it under Easy or Normal. Do NOT go for Hard, or god forbid, God of War Mode unless you're among the so called 'leets'.

This is why I play games on the easiest setting up to normal. I get enough frustration in real life and I don't need it while playing video games (Basically, I play for the story not the challenge). Although, I will play on a higher difficulty if there is a worthwhile in-game reward.

On to the game, I think it was confirmed that this is the first game in a new trilogy. I'm assuming that the third one will be based on Ragnarok. My prediction:
Spoiler Show
Kratos is long dead, probably killed by Thor in the second game. An adult Atreus, who is now Loki, leads his forces against Asgard.

For those playing who are near the end. After you...
Spoiler Show
...scatter Faye's ashes, don't forget to back home for a secret scene.

A streamer I watch is playing it in Give Me God of War mode. He's got an active death counter too. It's not how I'd play it, but he's been doing pretty well.

If you managed to get near the end, you will see a set of murals that actually foretold your entire journey in the game.
Spoiler Show
The final mural reveals a future outcome where Kratos dies beside Atreus/Loki, who spits out a serpent from his mouth. This leads to me to believe Atreus may somehow get powers from the World Serpent, making him the one who would kill Thor. This may also mean Thor could be the final boss and not Odin.

Word has it this version of God of War is supposed to have Kratos take on the Egyptian gods, but was settled for the Norse gods instead because Cory Barlog originally wanted to end Kratos's battle with Zeus in GoW 2, and have the Norse gods pop up in GoW 3.

I've managed to clear Alfheim in under an hour, though I admit I missed out some of the chests because I didn't realize you're supposed to look for vines to cut them down with your axe and I realized I was too late. Still, having to clear that in an hour is something I'm relieved that I'm getting better with playing the game (not to mention the fact at this point, I made some upgrades to make the figthign a little easier).

Finished the game. Enjoyed it immensely and looking forward to Ragnarok in a few years. Still don't like the over-the-shoulder camera, though.

So...
Spoiler Show
...Faye is based on Laufey of Norse myth, the mother of Loki. Her husband, and Loki's father, is Farbauti whose name means "cruel/dangerous striker", which can describe Kratos. Farbauti is also referred to as "lightning", which could also apply to Kratos as the latter is the son of Zeus.

The stuff coming out of Atreus' mouth are runes. It's very similar to real-life Viking runestones, where the inscription is usually arranged inside a serpentine band. I'm assuming Kratos' death provides the impetus for Atreus to wield runic magic.

... this might sound weird but considering everything can Kratos actually truly die?
I remember he is pretty much bared from the afterlife for his deeds.

^There's more than one afterlife in the GOW universe.

Yeah but would they let him in?
"alright next ... wait it's you! Oh hel no "slams door""
Kratos "... now what?"

He'll probably become a shade like a certain goddess.
