That might make sense - early on I was a bit surprised by how many things missed or hit that seemed like they shouldn't, which I chalked up to it being real percentages as opposed to other games. It has gotten easier since, but obviously now I have more than like 4 robots and I'm more cautious. I'm curious to see how it pans out from here...because of all that, it was quite a relief to get Gurren Lagann, who can actually tank, and I am very much aching to get those damn Mazingers.

That mode exists solely to screw you over as much as it can. Even if you fully upgrade a unit you can still easily get wrecked by Grunts.

In the early stages, there's even moments where you'll get one shot by grunts and there's nothing you can do about it.

They need to learn how to get good, then. It's impossible to hit or dodge on regular mode half the time in the early stages without spirit spamming (so, you know, spam spirits like the game clearly wants you to) so the only difference is your units can't take hits well... which is also true on regular mode anyway. The only difference is the enemies have much more teeth to them, so you have to upgrade and use good shit. Since there's no turn limits or need to get SR points, you can turtle most of the time anyway.

That stage is easy and the Goggs die in two hits if you don't do something stupid like move your C Rank In Water units into the fucking water, let your battleship go near units it can't hurt at all (since the Gandor can't hurt underwater enemies for... some reason), and just shoot at them from the shoreline like you normally would while letting one or two units zip over to the boss and other land based units to kill them.

I've played it a few times - beating it in five turns with or without getting the SR Point (arguably better to not get that one) isn't difficult if you're not doing really stupid shit and don't get unlucky.

Something about Billbine: As I understand it, by unlocking the secret scenario after its introduction, you get the option to change Billbine's color scheme early, but you don't have to.

As I understand it, this also unlocks an extra attack by scenario 34. Apparently he can't do it without the night camo? So basically, while you can switch to it early, you're forced switched to it by that stage if you unlocked the extra attack?

Color does not affect the extra attack, its just a cosmetic thing. You will get the extra attack in stage 34 as long as you complete the conditions for getting the color change option.
