They won't replace Banjo's Actor unless a Daitarn 3 Reboot. Remake or Game happens.
No Daitarn 3 Plot, Banjo is not fighting any Meganoids.

That's not always the case for replacing VAs in SRW, God Sigma's main character had his VA replaced by Tomokazu Seki for Z and Z2. For Orguss Olsen's VA (also Bright/Banjo's VA) had a different VA. Although in those cases those were debuting in SRW...

YESS Shin Mazinger + Mazinkaiser! Never thought I'd see the day. Wonder if Mazinkaiser will be an entirely new unit or will it be an upgrade to Mazinger Z?

Gundam lineup is same old with the exception of BELTORCHIKA'S CHILDREN? I know that doesn't add much but damn.

On the plus side, this is the best Daitarn's looked in terms of animation in a SRW since, like, Z.

please, please, please reanimate it. please. i beg you. rid us of the horrible zanba animation.

Edit:

If someone has voiced lines, they get no new VA unless they do IRL. See also Bright for an example of the latter, and Ryo/Ru Cain/Sayla for the former.

If someone has no lines at all, they get replaced, for obvious reasons.

It may be a matter of perspective, I don't know if there's actually less new series being added than usual or if they don't seem to have as much of an impact. I do definitely figure having to deal with HD assets these days probably has a lot to do with it. And it is true that it's only been a year this time, which sure is something.

Remember that time Impact was like 90% Alpha 1 and Gaiden assets?  Compact 3 reused from Compact 1 religiously?  AP reused from MX, Alpha 3, and Impact?

You let older games off because they're older to you, those assets could have come from anywhere.  X looks worse because it's fresh.

Well, yeah, exactly, that's what I mean by a matter of perspective. How many new (to console) series were in Impact? Tobikage? Dangaioh? Nadesico? Machine Robo? The best and most adorable OG couple? Etc etc? All big deal adds, as opposed to like...Buddy Complex. That's what I mean. But, yeah, with everything being HD it is less surprising.

As for it not being on the Switch...and this is something I should've kept in mind in the Traditional Crazy Predictions Thread...SRW announcements often have a short time table until the game is out. SRW V came out this past  February. SRW X is out in MARCH. That's really something even on the same systems, nevermind an extra port. If it were coming out this Fall, it might be a different matter.

When's the last time Hi Nu was in SRW again? I'm not one of those people whose sack auto-empties at the mere mention of its name, so I don't recall (and accidentally confused Beltorchika for Hathaway <_<)...

I think Alpha 3 was the last time we saw Hi-Nu Gundam, but it debuted in Alpha Gaiden (I think?) so the series kept Hi-Nu Gundam since then. Alpha series that is.

My impression of SRW X is "Why no Gundam X??"

Ok now that we've gotten that out of the way...
It's an interesting cast ... there's lots of reused properties here that I...really wish we shouldn't have...

Daitarn 3 really is an oddity at this point, I don't think it'll have plot so I'm guessing cheap license fee and already made sprite.
MightGaine was good in V....however I'm not seeing the point to reusing the asset right now ( I hope it's not the next Dancougar Nova or Macross F to be included continuously year after year...or should I be worried that Cross Ange would be that series)

(If it's really a fantasy world..I would have preferred Goldran...)

So-so about Buddy Complex...and from what little I've seen of Nadia... it really doesn't felt too much like a Mecha series even if there is a mecha in the form of the ship. (Seriously, the story doesn't seem to lend itself well to a Super Robot team up type game).

Wataru is something I've been waiting to see in a SRW but...it being involved without other fantasy series (ala the series in NEO like RyuKnight...Lamuness 40 ) or even Granzort makes it feel out of place...the fact that it'll be involved in a serious war and so on does feel very odd like Nadia.

I feel that there are also other series that fits the fantasy theme that could have used the come back such as : Escaflowne, Knight Gundam, Gaiking legend of Daikyumaryu...although they would have to make new HD sprites for them and not enough time....

It's also weird that they've taken out a lot of series mainstay in recent years like Gundam OO, SEED Destiny, Gundam Unicorn.. and Getter Armageddon but it's just as well, they could use a rest.

Also wondering how they're going to tie F91 with Crossbone Steel 7 since Seabook is the F91 version and not Kincaid...(time travel again?)

Lastly... I got to welcome back Mazinkaiser the original version from Alpha with the theme song by Mizuki Ichiro... though I'm wondering how the heck they're going to fit it in alongside not only Mazinger Zero but Mazinger Z with God Scrander....

I'm guessing that they may go the SRW F route... where you can choose to either get Kaiser OR Zero OR remain in Mazinger Z God Scrander with Big Bang Punch and so on... Oh and PLEASe let us have the option to KEEP Great Mazinger THIS time (with maybe a Great Booster Upgrade) instead of getting the Mazin Emperor G.

Yeah... no Gundam Unicorn is EXTREMELY weird especially for the heavy UC Gundam in this game... Hathaway's Flash is ironically based on Beltorchika's Children, but I think it might be units only in this case.

Wow, Nitake's back. XD

Anyway, I just got back from work, and see this SRWX thingy.
I believe Terada is trolling us. SRWV with no Voltes V and V Gundam.
Now SRWX with no Gundam X. Yeah right.

Where's my Getter Robo, dammit!
No G Gundam either. Sad
G-Reco,... don't really like it. I mean the show is weird.
But hey, Code Geass is back, that means I can pretend Kallen is the main character again.

Since SRWV, we always get one odd series, this time we get Nadia?!? Ok, that's really weird.

Aaand... are we really having lack of Super Robots?!? Most of the shows are reals.

Ok here is my impressions of all that happened....

All began showing that the scenario its a fantasy one, Terada goes on explaining that he toke inspiration on Masou Kishin scenario, and that its akin to it, that's a big plus to me.

as far as the cast goes however, i think that its a horrendous list, not because the series are bad, but because most of them don't fit on the game theme, we have... Cross Ange (they have a fantasy world with the dragons, but the machines don't even fell nothing like fantasy scenario things), Dumbine , and Masaki as a bonus and that's it?

and them we have some odd choices like here and there, its easy to figure that all the gundam series will be from space colonies, the lack of Unicorn was disturbing, but even more disturbing was the lack of more fantasy centric series

i was totally expecting Macross Delta but instead they brought back series with no plot on a already little cast, i will wait more to see how it will go, most SRW games quality for me its defined by the Map designs and the challenge level, both of those on V where low, i don't expect much from the script of mainline games, aside from the serialized ones, so its ok, but i would enjoy no warp gate shaneningans

for the platforms i think it was a mistake to relase a PsVita versions instead of a Switch one, not only the PsVita probably still exist only on Japan, but even there, is already on its last breaths, a PS4/Switch would have made the most sense the Switch version would probably outsell the Vita version seeing that V barely sold anything for a series that used to sell 300~500k, we saw a number of 200k between two platforms it was really worrisome for me as a fan.

still with for the best, and no judgment on the game quality until i see if there will be new systems and how it will be, but for now the cast its really weird i don't know any of the new series save for G-Reco (hope that Terada can make any meaning of the plot of that)

no V Gundam and Delta where sad well at least there Cross Ange ._.

also as much as i love code geass..... why not using Akito? for goddess sake? why R2 again? Akito its out for years, have interesting units, everyone already voiced, crap if they wanted they could use Code Geass Oz since they have voice actors for X Omega, why insist on R2 again? Code Geass have many fresh material and SRW keep using the same thing over and over and over.
Its never too late to start loving again

Well they are saying it as "cross", and it has Crossbone Gundam, and Cross Ange in it so...ehh? Ehhh? How bout that?

I don't know if I wanna go too much into spoilers, but...you're right, it really isn't, at all. I would say it's the craziest wild card they've ever pulled, but being that it's a Hideaki Anno directed Gainax show, I do believe it was one of those things people started predicting after Yamato made it in.

To go into spoilers:
Spoiler Show
The Excelion - yep, sharing its name with the Gunbuster ship - is the big shocker at the end of the series. It's too bad it's spoiled for people who haven't already seen the show, although I mean, it is pretty old by now...but I still remember what a D: moment it was when I was watching it years ago.

Eva 3.0's ship launch music references the Excelion theme, so it seems obvious to put Gunbuster and 3.0 in the same game with it, but I suppose that's a bit of hype they can keep in their pocket for later if they'd like.
