The PlayStation Vita Thread
#91
Life support in the west. JP and asian territories wise it's still doing fine.

The Vita was dead in the west to begin with thanks to Sony of 'murrca being a bunch of fuck tards.

>They revealed the Vita using a trailer of it doing shit it could never actually do
>>They never released any form of advertising or media for it at all
>>>Angry because the Vita didn't sell a million units on hour 1

I'm an importer so this affects me like nothing at all. SRWs and other cross plat games still sell the same as on PS4 so there's no real loss there.

Oh yeah, that news was largely for the West.
But really, I'm not interested in any more Vita titles nowadays.
Catherine, maybe? But still no. The last Vita game I bought was God Eater 2 Rage Burst.
I haven't finished it yet.

At this point I see no reason to support the Vita anymore myself, memory cards are expensive and pretty much all the big games nowadays that are on the Vita are also on PS4. I'd rather just play on my PS4, portable gaming doesn't really mean much to me anymore as I only play in my room with the very rare occasion I play anything when I'm out of town on my Vita and 3DS. Vita games that interested me were pretty much 90% J-RPGs with the rare exception of a mecha game or visual novel.

Only thing I'd still play on my Vita is PSP/PS1 classics, and I still have my PSP too.

Your PSP still alive? Mine only has like 2 hours of battery life before it died again.

I have 2 PSPs with one of them being a backup system cause the previous one is worn out, I also have a spare battery for it.

Same. Though in my case, my first one go rekt when I took it to Universal Studios Hollywood. I...sat too close to the performance area at the "Water World" show, and got soaled. My back up one is still around, but I just don't play it much aside from PS1 classics i can't get on the Vita. Still have about 2-3 chargers and 3-4 batteries. I take a lot of trips out of the country, to las vegas, etc so I like to always be able to switch on the fly, same with my phone.

Gamewise There's still a lot I want to get, probably enough to keep me busy for a long time. Not to mention future titles to come. Not ot mention it helps that many devs, especially the biggest being Bamco love to multiplatform release games for PS4 and Vita It especially helps that Vita and PS4 have almost identical system architecture that makes it easy to cross develop for.

Luckily Vita development in Japan won't really be affected. Japan is a country on the go where long commutes are common, and people still want to play their games on the go whenever they can whether on train rides, at work, planes etc. Sure there's mobages but often that won't fill in the void. I've used mine all over the plays. United staes, Mexico, Canada, long flights, car drives, many drunken nights on the floor of Circus Circus Hotel and Casino room (bad back), doctors appointments, etc. Hell, a few hours ago I was playing SRW X while I took my mother to the Urgent Care after she slashed the hell out of her finger badly. double hell, I was playing it during my Grandfathers Funeral even. (He was a piece of shit)

What triggers me the most is that as we, Mai and a few others randomly discussed and unanimously agreed on in the Fate/Grand Nepu thread, that Digital only is fucking stupid and retarded. You don't own a damn thing. Even if you're PSN account can go on for 10, 20 etc years, the licenses on those digital only games will eventually all expire and you'll lose access to them.

Look at the Nintendo. For like the 2nd or third system generation, the Wii Shop, the WiiU shop, and some other eshop all did the same BS, and evnetually closed for good making it impossible for people to redownload past digital software titles they carried.

What botched firmware?

A while ago sony released a botched firmware that heavily drained battery power. Basically it would cause Vita to act as if it was constnatly trying to load up and access the PS store which over time speed up batter drain. The only real remedy to it is to disable WiFi and set the vita to airplane mode.
