It's such a bummer DDT isn't as easily available as NJPW. It had a lot of great and funny matches here, like that time Kenny Omega Became Zangief

NJPW Dominion Aftermath:

- Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Tetsuya Naito via submission, becoming the new IWGP Intercontinental Champion

- Naito will be in the G1 Special in L.A. as one of 8 men fighting for the US Championship Belt. He will face Tomohiro Ishii of CHAOS in the first round.

- Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega ended in a draw as neither men could land a pin before the 60 min time limit is up.

- Cody (Rhodes) will face Okada at the G1 Special for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship

- Kenny Omega will join Naito as one of the 8 men fighting for the US Belt. He will face Michael Elgin in the first round.

- Dave Meltzer has given a 6.25 rating to the Okada/Omega II match, the highest he has ever given since their previous feud at the Tokyo Dome 6 months ago (a 6). He also mentions that a third bout between the two is expected to happen before year's end.

- Jim Ross said in an audio interview that to have Cody, a former WWE superstar, headlining the G1 Special with Okada will generate buzz among the WWE crowed to take interest in the New Japan brand.

- Rumored storyline goes that Cody would win the IWGP belt against Okada, making grounds for him as the new leader of Bullet Club, and removing The Elite (Omega and The Young Bucks) from the equation, potentially turning the latter to babyfaces.

NJPW Story so far:

- Kazuchika Okada def. Cody in Night 1 of the G1 Special in L.A. Many consider this as Cody's greatest match of his career.

- War Machine also defeated G.o.D. in Night 1 to become the new Heavyweight Tag Team champions. They will make their first title defense on the final day of the G1 Climax Tournament in August. EDIT: Their confirmed opponents are against Cody and Hangman Page.

- In Night 2, The Young Bucks def. Roppongi Vice to retain the Jr. Heavyweight belts. Ricochet barged in afterwards and challenged The Young Bucks for the title with Ryusuke Taguchi as his partner. EDIT: Their match will also be on the final day of the G1 Climax.

Roppongi Vice has decided to disband as Trent Beretta moves up to the Heavyweight Division.

- Rumor has it the Tanahashi/Gunn matchup was the former's idea as he really wanted to have a match with Shawn Michaels. But because Michaels is retired and is loyal to the WWE, Billy Gunn is the closest he could ever get, given Gunn's association with DX.

- Kenny Omega became the first IWGP US Heavyweight Champion after defeating Tomohiro Ishii. NJPW announced the US belt will be defended in future ROH events. Kenny and Okada will have their third match in 2nd to the Final Day of the G1 Climax.

UPDATE: Kevin Kelly will no longer be doing commentary on ROH as he is now committed to working full-time with NJPW. AXS TV has decided to not renew Jim Ross's contract and JR will be moving back to WWE for the Mae Young Classic.

WWE tidbits:

- Brock Lesnar def. Samoa Joe at this weekend's Great Balls of Fire PPV. He will face Roman Reigns at Summerslam (worth noting the match was announced PRIOR to the Lesnar/Joe match, so it was spoiled already that Joe is to lose)

- Roman Reigns turned heel. So is Bayley.

- AJ Styles def. Kevin Owens for the US title at a house show, just days after Kenny Omega won his US title.

- Austin Aries has been released by the WWE. Word has it the WWE Creative Team are not too kind to Aries, which resulted in his release.

- After the G1 Special, Okada was seen in both RAW and Smackdown shows meeting and greeting the WWE roster at the entrances leading to the ring.

Quote:Roman Reigns turned heel

Good. He had a very bad reception when WWE tried to push him as their face.

Just found out that there is a pro-wrestling promotion (Philippine Wrestling Revolution / PWR) where I live that was formed in 2013. I'm guessing it's a spiritual successor to Pinoy Wrestling from the late 80s.
TIL: Kenny Omega is actually bisexual.

I thought that was common knowledge among pro-wrestling fans/smarks? I think he revealed that last year.
What a G1 Climax tournament. It's a grueling 19 days, but definitely worth it. Yuji Nagata, in his final G1 appearance, gets my vote for MVP as he really shines despite having only one win. I think what makes me a big New Japan fan over WWE is how the matches are so good you'd praise even the loser of the match. Juice Robinson (CJ Parker) has had a great run and it shows why the Japanese crowd love him even after his loss to Okada. Then got his big win against Omega that shook up the B Block standings.

LIJ's EVIL also made a big name for himself when he beats both Minoru Suzuki and more importantly Okada (the latter's first loss in nearly a year).

Best matches of the G1:
1. Naito vs Ibushi
2. Omega vs Yano (the best comedy match ever)
3. EVIL vs Omega
4. EVIL vs Okada
5. Zack Sabre Jr vs Ishii
6. Okada vs Omega III

All that's left is the G1 Final that may definitely be a contender for Match of The Year.
