I don't normally post grim article like this, but this is beyond grim and deserved attention.

I have a question for anybody who can speak Japanese in the forum: My younger brother is going to travel to Japan in March and he was trying to write his name in Japanese, but neither him nor me could get a good transliteration of his name. His first name is Yadir and his name is spelled phonetically as he is Mexican (as Yah-deer). Does someone here could get a good transliteration of his name in Japanese?

ヤディア or ヤディアー should be okay to use.

^isn't that read like "Yadiaa" (yah di aa) ?
I recon it would be ヤディー instead, which I strongly believe read as "Yah Diii". Usually japanese doesn't write the R behind.

He said it was pronounced like deer, the two I listed end in two common ways to write it in katakana.

I think ヤディー is much better, as Yadiia sounds like "Yadira" a girl's name in Spanish and he hates being called as such, much less by a foreigner.

ヤディー wouldn't really be correct though, that would be like Ya-dee for western pronounciation.
