Masaaki Yuasa Directs New Devilman Anime for Netflix

Boy, a stupid title, and disappointing staff. I guess 44 years isn't enough to give Devilman fans what they've been waiting for this whole time...

RE: Netflix Orignal Devilman - Kicksville - 03-17-2017

I dunno, Masaaki Yuasa heading this sounds incredible. I know these days he's known as the Ping Pong and Kick-Heart guy, but it can't be forgotten he was the Kemonozume guy before that. He can do the violence justice in a way others possibly can't.

Thaaaat said, the credit that worries me most is Ichirou Okouchi. Is this first half of Kabaneri and King Gainer Okouchi, or second half of Kabaneri and Guilty Crown Okouchi? I suppose we'll see. If it's an actual manga adaptation as seems to be rumored, that'd only give so much room to fuck it up I'd hope.

I was not planning to watch this in just three days, but I did.

In short: It delivers. Outstanding adaptation with a lot of heart that does not pull any punches.

I started on this and it's pretty decent so far. I felt like during episode 1 the viewer is dropped into the deep end, and there's a lot of story that has already transpired by the time the anime starts.

I can only assume the manga or whatever goes more into the backstory for the characters or events leading up to the beginning of episode 1.

I'm only seen up to episode 6, maybe the anime does cover more backstory. I'm keeping fingers crossed.
