Monster Hunter Movie by Paul W.S. Anderson
Posted by: Andy Chan - 11-13-2018, 10:02 AM - Forum: The Nickelodeon - Replies (2)

https://www.slashfilm.com/paul-w-s-ander...terview/2/

It's an interview on something, but he mentioned the Monster Hunter movie.

Was Monster Hunter a game you were obsessed with like you were Resident Evil?
I became aware of the game 10 years ago. I’ve been a long term fan of Monster Hunter before most people in the west even knew what it was. Partly because I spend a lot of time in Japan and I fell in love with the imagery of the game and started talking to Capcom about it nine years ago. It’s definitely a passion project of mine, nine years in the making.

Is it similar to Resident Evil in that you’re creating new, original characters like Alice was?
No, the movie has a lot of characters from the video game in it. There’s The Handler and Admiral, Aiden, Aiden’s Handler. We wanted Palico. It’s very much a movie of the video game, but in Monster Hunter you get to create your own character when you go in there. You don’t get to play Lara Craft or Jill Valentine. You get to play your own creation, and there is definitely an element of that in there. Some of the leading characters will be fresh characters but that’s a reflection of what the video game is. It’s definitely a movie that is firmly and fully entrenched in the world of the video game, as you would expect with me having worked with Capcom for nine years on adapting it and bringing it to the screen.

Do you get to realize all the monsters from the game or create any new ones?
Listen, I don’t need to create any new monsters. There’s such a vast array of amazing creatures over the years. We’re leaning quite heavily on the favorite creatures from Monster Hunter World which is the latest game, but we’re also bringing in what I think are some of the fabulous monsters from some of the earlier games and well, and some of the imagery from the earlier games. So I think for fans of Monster Hunter World, you’ll recognize that world and the characters from that world very much, but also it’ll be a callback to some of the favorite moments and creatures from some of the earlier games, which hopefully will get people excited to check out those earlier games as well because there’s some magnificent imagery and monsters in those earlier games as well that I think a lot of people who have just played Monster Hunter World may not be aware of.

Images to see the authenticity of the movie. Very faithful to the Monster Hunter lore.

Normally the death of a man like stan would be sadder. But at 95 theres nothing to be sad about. He lived a long fufilling life that touched billions of peoples lives.

Personally I was expecting him to die a few years back. Specifically shortly aftwr his wife had passes.

  Atelier Ruruna (Arland series 4)
Posted by: Top Nep - 10-24-2018, 02:55 PM - Forum: Game Channel - Replies (13)

Hahahaha, the most recent trio of games, the  Mysterious series for the Atelier franchise was such shit (Except for Plaftcha), that they literally said  screw it we're going to rehash Rorona for a 4th time.

https://gematsu.com/2018/10/atelier-lulu...ps4-switch

I would have preffered a proper sequel to Escha and Logy though since the 2 were just so goddamn adorable together.

>Rorona's daughter
>>Which means someone stuck it in

I can't wait to hear the virgin otaku cry about their waifu. Though $100 bucks says it turns out to be some BS where it's not really her daughter and just a Homunculus or something.

The Haunting of Hill House - Great Halloween Month Watch
Posted by: Andy Chan - 10-18-2018, 09:59 AM - Forum: The Nickelodeon - Replies (4)

Twenty-six years ago, residential contractor Hugh Crain and his architect wife Olivia decided to try to remodel and flip a century-old mansion known as Hill House. They moved in early in the summer along with their five children (Steve, Shirley, Theodora, Luke, and Nell), and that's when things immediately started to get bizarre. Because it turns out that the House has a history of deaths and disappearances...

The story flips between the past and the present-day, as those who escaped the House many years ago struggle to cope with the aftermath... particularly when someone in the family is called back to the structure and the Crain family becomes entangled with it all over again.

There's not much horror movies that can creep me out, but this Netflix series can.
Up to episode 7 now. I highly recommend it.

Halloween Horror Game Thread From HELL - *OFFICIALLY HAUNTED by MY DEAD CAT!!*
Posted by: Kicksville - 10-14-2018, 02:02 PM - Forum: Game Channel - Replies (13)

Seen here with her spirit rising up, escaping this mortal coil.

Passed away October 3rd. She was a rescued cat who was found abandoned in an apartment years ago, and may have been older than they estimated - she definitely wasn't a kitten, so not the popular at adoption type. So we were happy to give her a home. She loved people, did not care for other cats (so I uhh, hope she goes to People Heaven rather than Cat Heaven). Originally seemed to be anti-social, but ended up being quite the talker. She had a good long life.

HERE ARE THE GAMES!!!

Fatal Frame
Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly
Fatal Frame III The Tormented
Fatal Frame IV Mask of the Lunar Eclipse
Fatal Frame V Maiden of Black Water
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha vs The Soulless Army
Yo-Kai Watch 2 Psychic Specters
Countdown Vampires

I never played Fatal Frame before and I like to blitz through old series all at once these days, to see the changes over the years more distinctly, so I started that in early September. Right now I'm on IV, and I suspect I'm near the end. I'll probably post my thoughts about those after this. Am hoping V will go on sale, although I don't know if they will bother with a seasonal Wii U sale anymore - it is actually free to play for the first few chapters, so that'll buy me time.

Probably not gonna finish the RPG stuff, but it's things I wanted to check out.

Countdown Vampires is one of those games I remember reading about years ago that sounded weird and intriguing, although often described as bad. I kept forgetting the name, and finally got around to looking it up this time. From the Resident Evil rip-off era, it's apparently K2's first game, which is intriguing since they made my favorite Tenchu games (Wrath of Heaven).

  SSSS. Gridman
Posted by: ryoga316 - 10-08-2018, 11:02 PM - Forum: Tokyo Jupiter - Replies (8)

Copypasta from my FB post.

Quote:First impressions on SSSS. Gridman from the same anime studio behind Little Witch Academia and Kill la Kill. (this is also to clear up whatever shenanigans I made on my initial post on another board that ended up going south)

Was honestly expecting Gridman to be more than just an Ultra series. Kind of like what made Code Geass good and popular (I know, bad analogy. But couldn't think of a similar anime like Gridman that is extremely popular with mainstream anime fans). Not that I hate it since I grew up watching both the original and Syber Squad versions and loved them both. It's also because with others like Devilman Crybaby, Lupin III Part V, etc., I expect a lot of other anime to up their game now to be as interesting as it is entertaining. And given Trigger's reputation, I was hoping for the same thing, if not better.

I know a lot of people like Gridman the way it is being just like the Ultra series (or for those not familiar with it - Power Rangers). I got nothing against that thinking. Still, I just wished Trigger and Tsuburaya will do more with Gridman beyond your typical Ultra show and would get me hyped up. It's got 11 more episodes to go to impress me that further. But for now, I'm turning down my expectations on this one.

Super robot taisen stream 11th October
Posted by: Tiduas - 10-07-2018, 05:13 AM - Forum: Super Robot Wars - Replies (4)

There's a new SRW stream coming up on the 11th October 21:00-22:00 (japanese time). Any wishes for this one?

Personally, a new switch announcement for a new title is among the things I most would want to get.
